Real Madrid's Ozil hires Sky Media Network to develop career

Real Madrid star Mesut Özil has hired Sky Media Network, the burgeoning representation strand of Sky Deutschland, to advise on his future global commercial and sponsorship rights, reports SportsPro. The German international is the first client Sky Media Network will represent outside its own crop of on-air talent.

Sky Media Network has created a new business unit, F4B (Faces for Brands) which it says will market celebrities in sport and entertainment.

Martin Michel, the managing director Sky Media Network, said: "As an established sports marketing agency we are the perfect interface between the advertising market and professional sports. Therefore marketing successful sports personalities such as Mesut Özil is a logical consequence for us.

"With our new service that includes conceptual design, marketing and support services we create a win-win situation for all participating parties."

Özil's father and manager Mustafa Özil called Sky Media Network the "perfect partner", adding: "Its comprehensive network of national and international contacts as well as a clear placement and marketing strategy will support the successful positioning of Mesut Özil as a sports personality."

In May SportsPro ranked Özil as one of the most marketable athletes in the world.
