Manchester United are stepping up their interest in departing AS Monaco football chief Luis Campos.

The Portuguese is available and ready for a new challenge after quitting Monaco earlier this week, says the Daily Star.

He's responsible for discovering Anthony Martial, who he signed from rival Ligue 1 outfit Lyon for £4m as a 17-year-old teenager.

Jose Mourinho appointed Campos as his technical scout during his Real Madrid tenure and could be reunited with his compatriot at Old Trafford, according to FootMercato.

He boosted his reputation when bringing James Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho and Bernardo Silva to Monaco.
