Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is proud of the progress of Angel di Maria. The former Benfica winger struck in yesterday's 3-0 win over Sporting Gijon.

Mourinho said: "His goal was decisive.

"No one knew why Real Madrid signed him when he first arrived. He was unknown and didn't have a good run in the World Cup. But he had things I liked. He is humble and personally ambitious even though the team is the most important thing for him."
