QPR boss Harry Redknapp is chasing Stoke City striker Peter Crouch.
The Sunday Mirror says Crouch, who played for Redknapp at Spurs, Portsmouth and Southampton, is wanted by Redknapp as a centre-forward option.
But the problem for Redknapp is QPR chairman Tony Fernandes does not want to employ too many veterans on big wages, especially after Ferdinand's arrival on a free transfer from Manchester United.
Crouch is inside the final year of his Potters deal.
