QPR are launching a £10 million bid for Tottenham striker Peter Crouch.
The Daily Express says Crouch, nicknamed "Rodney" after the Only Fools and Horses character in an earlier stint at Loftus Road, did not want to join Sunderland after Steve Bruce bid £10m.
And it paves the way for QPR, who train less than half an hour away from Crouch's Weybridge home where wife Abbey Clancy and their five-month-old daughter Sophia are already settled.
A move for Crouch, whose departure Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp admitted was a "possibility" after the loan signing of Emmanuel Adebayor, could free up funds for an improved bid for Gary Cahill after talks began with Bolton yesterday.
