Portsmouth striker Kanu to retire from Nigeria after World Cup

Portsmouth striker Nwankwo Kanu says he'll retire from the Nigeria national team after the 2010 World Cup.

The Super Eagles booked their place in the competition with a 3-2 victory over Kenya at the weekend.

He said: "Now we have a chance to go to the World Cup and do well. Our chances are good.

"I will quit after this World Cup. I cannot play when I am 50. I have reached the heights and my aim is to go to the World Cup.

"I thank God that finally after all the fight, all the struggle, all the hard work, we are there."
