O'Halloran targeting regular Villa spot

Stephen O'Halloran has his eyes on a regular place in Aston Villa's first team next season.

The defender has already been capped at senior level by the Republic of Ireland and told Villa's website: "It's been a mad year for me, going from the youth team football to Wycombe on loan for experience. Then I came back and gained more experience training with the first-team.

"Capping it off with my international debut was just unbelievable - way beyond my expectations really.

"Hopefully now I can push on from this experience. I'll just keep my head down, keep working hard and see where it takes me with Villa.

"I've had some great youth coaches - Tony McAndrew and Gordon Cowans - then I've worked with Kevin MacDonald in the reserves.

"Hopefully now I can build on that experience and push through into the first-team as well, because there's some great coaches at that level as well.

"I won't set any targets for next season. I'm not going in expecting things, I didn't expect things last season. I'll take it as it comes and hopefully I'll have another good season.

"To make my international debut in New York was extra special. There's great history there for Irish fans, with the 94 World Cup, so to be playing on the same grounds as that great team was unbelievable."
