Norwich boss Dean Smith: Fans here wanted defeat to Blackburn

Norwich City boss Dean Smith said sections of the Carrow Road crowd had been "waiting" for his side to struggle after their home defeat by Championship promotion rivals Blackburn.

The Canaries slid to their fourth home loss in seven games after Ben Gibson's own goal and a Tyrhys Dolan strike secured the points for Blackburn.

Disgruntled fans called for Smith's dismissal during the game and the Norwich head coach told BBC Radio Norfolk: "I think a lot of them have been waiting for this period to happen, or wanting it to - I don't know.

"A narrative's been set about it not being good football, despite us having the second or third highest shots in the league.

"Football's about opinions and sometimes you can't change that. Fortunately our next game's away from home because you feel like we have to score two very quick goals at home to get people on our side at the moment.

"I've been in football long enough to know you can turn things around and we'll be working hard to do that."

Victory for Rovers saw them return to third, within two points of the automatic promotion places, while Norwich slip to fifth - a further four points back.
