Newcastle United director of football Joe Kinnear is lining up a swap deal for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong.
The Daily Mail says the 23-year-old Holland international is Newcastle's prime target in the winter transfer window and rated at £12million by his club.
Newcastle, who missed out on the forward when he left FC Twente for Monchengladbach last summer, are willing to sacrifice Senegal striker Papiss Cisse to secure a deal.
Although Cisse is understood to prefer the opportunity to prove himself at St James' Park, the 28-year-old has struggled to nail down a regular starting place this season and his recent goal from penalty spot against Stoke City was his first since April.
