Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has explained his quick exit at the final whistle of victory over Liverpool.
All the Toon Army's anger was directed at Mike Ashley but Pardew still decided to walk straight down the tunnel at full-time.
He said: "I wasn't in any position to milk the applause. My tenure has only just begun and although it was a great win, I only played a very small part.
"I clapped the fans as I went down the tunnel as I was so pleased with the noise levels.
"I couldn't even get a message to my winger who was 20 yards away, so that's something I'll have to think about. Maybe I'll have to learn sign language!
"After one game, it's difficult to answer any question about how far I can take this club.
"But I have a long-term vision and that's to create a team that can threaten the top-half of the Premier League. Get there and the momentum can take you higher."
