Newcastle boss Pardew admits Tiote haunted by derby red

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew admits Cheick Tiote wasn't at his best for their Europa League win over Club Brugge.

The Ivory Coast international, who will miss the next three Barclays Premier League games as a result of his dismissal at the Stadium of Light, was clearly not himself and Pardew admitted the red card was on his mind.

He said: "I have no doubt in my mind, knowing Cheick, that he was affected by the sending-off on Sunday.

"You could see there was a lack of focus in his game, and probably because it was so soon after Sunday's game, I can emotionally understand that.

"He is hurt that he got sent off, trust me, no-one was more hurt on Sunday than Cheick."
