Manchester United are ready to drop their interest in Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
The Sunday Express says United boss Alex Ferguson is set to bid £12million for Atletico Madrid's teenage keeper David de Gea.
Germany keeper Manuel Neuer is also a possible target, but United would have to pay Schalke £20m for the 24-year-old.
Ferguson's reluctance to pay over the odds means de Gea is likely to be United's preferred choice.
