Moyes delighted with Everton's second half fightback

Everton boss David Moyes praised the second half display at Anfield in which the Toffees came from behind to take the lead before having to settle for a 2-2 draw with Liverpool. Moyes was pleased with the way his side responded following an indifferent first half performance.

The Scot told evertontv: "We never really got started in the first half. We were a bit fortunate only to come in 1-0 down at half time.

"But while it was at that we were always in the game, and it was a great reaction from the players after half time which got us back in it.

"I thought we had a couple of half-chances to make it 3-1. The ball was played into people in the box and we didn't take it. You can always be left ruing that but we were the better team in the second half, we played well in the second half and we actually come away feeling a bit disappointed that we didn't take all three points."

Moyes agreed it was a penalty following Tim Howard's challenge on Maxi Rodriguez, and he felt referee Phil Dowd did a decent job in a game played at full tilt.

"I'm a bit disappointed with the penalty, but it was a penalty," conceded Moyes. "But he (Howard) also made two or three really good saves for us.

"I thought the referee did okay," he added. "I thought there were a few things - like the ball coming off somebody and going out for a corner kick and so on, but I think overall he let the game go and didn't get too involved."
