Millwall manager Rowett not surprised by transfer rumours for Aston Villa target Wallace

Millwall manager Gary Rowett isn't surprised by Aston Villa transfer rumours for Jed Wallace.

The Birmingham Mail says Villa reportedly expressed an interest in signing the forward during the January transfer window, with the player previously spending time at local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

A fee of around £10m was quoted by the report crediting Villa with an interest in the 26-year-old, who has been in fine form for Millwall this season.

“I expect interest in players who are playing well," Rowett told London News Online.

He added: “But we're not a selling club. The owner has made it clear we don't need to sell players, but at the same time we're always sensible.

“Let's see what happens. We certainly don't want to lose our best players, we want to add to them and see if we can achieve.

“But every club and every manager is going to have mixed feelings about what might happen, because it's a little bit uncertain."
