Marotta happy with Juventus summer market campaign

Juventus GM Beppe Marotta stands by his summer market work.

Marotta insists the club have strengthened over the summer, but he's disappointed by Amauri's refusal to leave.

"We tried to improve the squad and I think we managed to achieve that," he said.

"We wanted to sign at least one more new face in defence, but the players available were not better than those we already have.

"We've reduced the gap between ourselves and the other clubs, but now it is up to Coach Antonio Conte.

"Have we signed too many players? I don't think so," he added. "Napoli, who finished third last season, made 12 signings.

"We thought it would only be right to meet the needs of our new Coach."
