Mariga: Brother Wanyama says Pochettino has made him at Spurs

McDonald Mariga has explained how Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has influenced younger brother Vincent Wanyama.

Wanyama joined Spurs over the summer and the Kenyan international has managed to establish himself as a key figure in Pochettino's exciting team this term.

Pochettino has been crucial to Wanyama's development as a player since his arrival in England with Southampton from Celtic a couple of seasons ago and the midfielder's elder brother, Mariga, has gone on to hail the Argentine boss for turning his younger sibling into the player he is today.

"I think he got stronger when he started to play at Celtic. He became more muscular - the football in Scotland, England is more physical," Mariga told ESPN FC.

"But he said Pochettino is the coach who has made him. He's the one who, when Victor came to Southampton, he taught him what to do and how to play - all the things.

"He's the one who taught him everything and made even more qualities for Victor. He gave him exposure and confidence. If you don't have confidence from the coach, you cannot perform well. He's helped him a lot."
