Manchester United are not likely to extend Juan Mata's contract by another year.

United have an option to secure the veteran Spaniard for another 12 months on the same terms.

According to the Manchester Evening News, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a lot of trust in Mata.

He also sees him as a great influence on younger players and new signings.

However, Mata wants to play more often as his career winds down.

United will not trigger an extension in order to give Mata the freedome to explore other options.
