According to reports from The Independent, Manchester United will allow Wayne Rooney to join Everton on a free transfer next season.

Rooney has created history this season by becoming United's all-time leading goalscorer but with the Red Devils skipper struggling for regular minutes on the pitch, it is widely expected that he will depart Old Trafford in the summer.

Rooney's boyhood club Everton have expressed an interest in signing the 31-year-old and it has been claimed that United will waive any transfer fee on the striker in order to allow the prospective move to take place.

It is also understood that the Toffees are prepared to offer the England star a £150,000-a-week deal.
