Manchester United have made an opening offer for Lyon striker Karim Benzema.
Benzema's agent confirmed last week that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to sign the striker this summer.
And the Sunday Times says Sir Alex Ferguson, the United manager, has already offered Lyon £25.5m, though the French club believe they can do better.
