Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy is a shock contender for the Malaga job.

Juande Ramos formally resigned as coach from Malaga yesterday.

Van Nistelrooy, 40, has long had his coaching badges and this season has been doing work with Unai Emery's PSG and also Holland coach Danny Blind.

The Dutch great left United for Real Madrid, but also had a spell in Spain with Malaga.
