Edwin van der Sar admits Manchester United gave Bayern Munich's midfield too much time on the ball last week.
Bayern arrive at Old Trafford on Wednesday night holding a 2-1 first-leg advantage in their Champions League quarterfinal.
Van der Sar said: "It looks simple for us - score just one goal and don't concede. But to do that we'll have to play much better than in the first game.
"Bayern created far too many chances in Munich and we have to sort that out and make sure we defend much better. Some of their shots were from far out, but they also had too many opportunities inside the six-yard area and that cannot happen again.
"Bayern will like their chances - but so do we.
"Of course we'd have rather taken a 1-1 draw to Manchester than a defeat, but these things happen in football.
"There's been quite a few occasions when we have scored in the last minute to win a game and now it's happened to us."
