Mark Hughes has revealed that he has opened negotiations regarding a new deal with Stoke City.
The Welsh manager initially signed a three-year contract when replacing Tony Pulis in the summer of 2013 and it has been reported that he could extend for a further two.
At the press conference ahead of Saturday's clash with former club QPR, Hughes was asked whether or not he was set to sign a new deal and although he did not give away anything specific, he indicated that it was on the cards.
"We haven't done any details yet - you have more information than me if you are saying it will be two years," said the former Manchester United striker.
"But the owners have intimated they would like to sit down and discuss a new contract.
"The length and terms will be discussed in due course I would imagine. But I'm delighted they want to do it.
"I'm very happy here and it has been a good fit. If we can come to some agreement, I will be more than happy."
Former Wales, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City and Fulham boss Hughes currently has the Potters sitting 10th on the Premier League table following a ninth-place finish last season.
