Manchester City are ready to discuss closer ties with Anderlecht after the appointment of Vincent Kompany as player-manager.

The Daily Mail says City have been in talks with Anderlecht for months about setting up an informal arrangement.

As part of it, the Belgian side would become one of City's clubs of choice when they send young players out on loan.

Tthe idea of identifying and buying young players — who City believe are not quite ready but could make the grade in the future — and loaning them to Anderlecht to develop has cropped up in talks.

Defender Kompany announced on Sunday that he will leave City after 11 years to take over as player-manager at his first club.
