Man City's Pellegrini buoyed by Jovetic showing in big Wigan win

Manuel Pellegrini felt Stevan Jovetic's first goals for Manchester City were vital for the players confidence.

The 23-year old Montenegrin striker, who joined from Fiorentina in the summer, netted in the 60th and 83rd minutes of City's 5-0 Capital One Cup win over Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night, delighting Pellegrini.

"I think it is very important for Stevan," the Chilean said.

"He wasn't playing normally because he had some physical problems but the last two weeks he has been working hard and I am sure he is going to be a really important player for us."
