Man City midfielder Kovacic: Luton a big three points

Manchester City new boy Mateo Kovacic was impressed with what he saw from his teammates at the weekend.

Kovacic, who started City's 2-1 win over Luton Town on Sunday, praised the team for their character, determination and fighting spirit in the contest.

City earned their first win in five Premier League games, closing the gap to the top spot to four points.

Post-game, Kovacic told club media: “Big three points. We showed overall great football, especially in the first half, we played very well, we found a lot of players in the pockets which is what we want.

“We had half chances. We maybe missed the final touch. We showed great character, as this team has shown over many years now. It's a big three points for us.

“We played overall very good, when you do your thing and insist, the goals come. We could have scored even more, but I'm happy with the three points."
