Virgil van Dijk is expected to be the subject of a number of offers this winter.

Dutch publication De Telegraph is reporting that Manchester City and Liverpool are preparing bids for the the Southampton defender.

It is understood that both City and the Reds will offer £25million for van Dijk, who is one of the most reliable centre-backs in the Premier League this season.

The report indicates that the title-chasing pair have had scouts watch the 25-year-old in every match over the past two months and what they have seen has led to likely January proposals.

However, Southampton are in no hurry to offload their prized asset and are likely to hold out for an even bigger sum for the former FC Groningen and Celtic man who is also on Manchester United's radar.
