Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is convinced momentum is with them ahead of the Carling Cup final.
The 21-year-old has had a difficult season since his high-profile £16million move from Sunderland but hopes he has done enough to retain a place for next week.
Henderson said: "It was important we came out and did it right. We did that and everyone is delighted.
"Brighton are a good team who played some good football. We had done our homework on them and knew what they were about.
"They made it difficult for us at first but once we got a couple of goals it was easier.
"A lot of people want to play (next week) and some will be disappointed but I am sure everyone will be training really hard and trying to get in that starting XI for Sunday.""A few people got on the scoresheet, everyone is full of confidence and hopefully we can take that into the game next week.
