Rafael Benitez believes Liverpool only need to look at last season to find some motivation to climb the Premier League table.
The Reds finished second in England's top flight under Brendan Rodgers last term but currently find themselves down in 11th position after a battling beginning to 2014/15.
Napoli manager Benitez, who was in charge at Anfield between 2004 and 2010, told Sky Sports News HQ that he feels Rodgers' side has to take heart from previous performances to rediscover the belief that they are good enough to take on the Premier League's best.
"You have to have this experience and say 'what can we do now?'. We cannot change what happened so we have to think 'what can we do for the future? How can we be in the same position?' So I think that's the only thing," said the Spaniard.
"When we finished second I was really pleased because we had 86 points and it still was not enough and everyone went 'oh you lost an opportunity'.
"So if you continue moaning about 'oh we lost an opportunity' you will not be ready for the future. So I think you have to concentrate on what you did well, what you did badly and then try to improve for the future, for the next one."
