Leeds cannot afford ex-Chelsea boss Di Matteo

Former Chelsea boss Roberto di Matteo has dismissed interest from Leeds United.

The Daily Star says Chelsea are continuing to pay their ex-boss £40,000 a week under the terms of his contract, which has this season and next to run.

And Championship outfit Leeds, who sacked Neil Warnock last week, can only offer the Champions League-winning manager around £8,000 a week.

German-speaking Di Matteo, 42, is also under serious consideration for the Schalke job with which Everton's David Moyes has also been linked.
