Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland says the players can convince their top teammates about staying at the DW.
Kirkland says, rather than rely on their loyalty, the best way of making sure they want to stay is by improving fortunes on the field.
He told the Wigan Observer: "It's vital we keep hold of those players, but we have to make sure they want to stay at the club by doing well on the field.
"And if they want to stay, the club has got to do all it can to keep hold of them. It's a different story if the players want to go, but that's for the club to sort out. Hopefully they'll see what the gaffer is trying to do here and they'll want to stay.
"They're big players for us and we don't want to lose them - that's for sure."
