Kemp: Whelan great example of Stoke spirit

Stoke City assistant boss Dave Kemp says Glenn Whelan's epitomises their campaign.

The Irish midfielder has fought back after being dropped at the start of the season to become a first-choice in Tony Pulis' team.

Kemp said: "Glenn lost his place, but has shown a terrific attitude. He's kept going, got his place back and is a regular starter at the moment.

"All credit to him. Football isn't about the ups all the time. There are the downs as well and it is about how you react to them, just as we have had to as a team when we have been beaten.

"The team has done that and Glenn, in particular, has done it very well."
