Juventus captain Gigi Buffon is happy to meet the call from Italy coach Luigi di Biagio.

Buffon, 40, insists accepting the selection is the right decision.

He said: "I'm here because I'm a person consistent with what I've always said, with a great sense of responsibility and these two things explain my presence.

"I have always been consistent, I would like my presence to be taken in this way and not in any other way because it is not my intention.

"The young will grow up and are already grown and tomorrow will have all their day. This is another reason why I'm here and I felt it was right to attend and respond to this call."
