John Terry: 'I hope I don't play for Chelsea again...'

Chelsea captain John Terry has explained why he hopes not to play for the club again during the current campaign.

Chelsea's success this season has been built upon a strong foundation at the back consisting of Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill and David Luiz, and as a result of their fine form, Terry has struggled to earn regular minutes on the pitch for the Blues.

Rather than being frustrated though, Terry has gone on to state that he hopes he will not have to play for the West Londoners again this season, as his beloved club are flourishing without his services.

The 36-year-old told BT Sport: "I'm honestly hoping that I don't play this season, that they keep winning, and I genuinely mean that.

"When you've got a manager like Conte who's been honest with me from day one 'Listen, you're not getting back in, the boys are playing great, team's flying'. You know you haven't got a leg to stand on.

"You do things the right way because of the love of the club and how good everyone's been to you over the years."
