Irvine still demanding more despite comfortable Wednesday victory

Sheffield Wednesday boss Alan Irvine was unimpressed with his side's display despite a 3-0 victory over Walsall. The Owls put their off-field woes behind them as goals from Darren Potter, Mark Beevers and Clinton Morrison secured a comfortable success.

Irvine said: "It's obviously a good run. I'm delighted about that and long may it continue. I was disappointed with the way we played in the first half. We lacked an edge about us.

"I couldn't put my finger on it. I thought the early goal would spark us into life but it didn't. I wasn't happy at half-time and felt we needed to do a lot better. We were lacking a spark.

"We were in danger of losing the game when we shouldn't have been, but it was better in the second half."

The club's future remains in the balance, but Irvine insisted: "We can't affect what happens off the pitch. The players deserve credit for getting results at what is obviously a difficult time for everyone at the club."
