Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira has backed Cesc Fabregas' appointment as Arsenal captain.

The former Gunners skipper said: "Cesc would be my choice.

"He knows the club well and has been there quite a long time now even though he's still young.

"He can be the one to bring everyone together because on the outside it looks like everyone is not together.

"When you see what he's done in the last few years at his age it is fantastic. The character, the experience - he has it already.

"He's not afraid of responsibility."
