Inter Milan chief Piero Ausilio says they did all they could to sign PSG midfielder Javier Pastore.
The market shut yesterday with Pastore remaining in Paris.
“We did what we could," Ausilio told Mediaset Premium.
“We were always honest that there weren't the financial conditions to bring Pastore to Milan. There were never real negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.
“Inter remain competitive for a Champions League place."
Striker Andrea Pinamonti was on the verge of a move to Sassuolo, but turned it down at the last minute, while Marcelo Brozovic was close to Everton and Sevilla.
“Luciano Spalletti is counting on Brozovic. There was an agreement with Sassuolo for Pinamonti, but what the player wants matters too and therefore he's staying with us for the next six months."
