England coach Roy Hodgson insists their World Cup qualifying route was never going to be a doddle.
The idea that England should sail through qualifying is a misconception, says the manager.
"I would respectfully suggest it's something of a dream scenario to think that we are capable today of just whizzing through. I don't know that any of those who work with me believe that.
"We always knew this was going to be a tough group. We always knew we'd have to work hard. We always thought that if we were top of the group with two games to play at home, that should be good enough to enable us to do it.
"But there'll be people who have their opinions, who will say that this was a breeze and we should have 24 points from eight games."
