Hjulmand offers Vestergaard advice to Leicester boss Rodgers

Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand has told Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers to play Jannik Vestergaard to help solve their defensive woes.

Vestergaard has been omitted for Denmark's fixtures against Croatia and France later this month.

Speaking on Tuesday, Hjulmand told Danish media: "I think a lot about Jannik, who has been a fantastic player during the time I have been national coach. He has ended up in the situation he is in through no fault of his own.

"He has done everything he can. I really hope Leicester find out that they can solve some of the defensive problems by using Jannik. He is a skilled player and we have a lot of faith in him, but you can't play against Croatia and France if you've not had some game-time.

"We took Jannik with us in June, when he hadn't played for Leicester. We also went over to visit him, and he has given it his all. He actually came in and made a difference for us in the games in June.

"There are no rules for how many matches are required (to get a place in the World Cup squad), but it is a long period now that he has not played matches. I hope that he will play from now until the World Cup."
