Grobbelaar supports Liverpool's 'transfer committee' plans

Liverpool legend Bruce Grobbelaar has backed plans for a 'transfer committee'.

Grobbelaar admits it is an unconventional idea he believes it would be a good thing for more clubs to consider.

"I was astounded that we didn't get someone in when they got rid of Carroll and Kuyt and all those sort of players," the former Liverpool goalkeeper told talkSPORT.

"What I'm Reading now is that they're going to have to go through a committee but if you have a look at the turn of events of football and the new phase we have a soccer expert who has a look at all these players and then you have to go to him.

"This person might not have even played the game but you still have to go to see him and see if you can actually buy this player.

"In the old days managers used to just say to the chairman or the secretary 'I want this player' and they would go ahead and get him.

"And nowadays you have to go through this committee, is he good enough? Why isn't he good enough? You have to debate him before you actually get the player to your club.

"It is a little bit of bother but in the long run maybe it is a good thing for all clubs."
