Girona coach Michel frustrated being banned for Real Madrid clash: We know we're leaders if we win

Girona coach Michel is hopeful his suspension won't make a difference when they meet Real Madrid this weekend.

Michel will be banned from the touchline for the clash.

He said, “I want to be on the field in all the games, but I accept the sanction. It is true that the red card was too much for me, disproportionate, but that's it, I accept the sanction.

"The club did what it considered best and had hopes in the appeal, that's why we did it. The same thing must have happened to other coaches. I know how to accept a mistake and the sanction.

“It is my problem because the team is prepared. I am lucky that my coaching staff is spectacular and everyone knows how the team plays. In this sense, no problem. We will do what we always do.

"On an individual level I don't like it at all because as a spectator the game is different, I don't have the feeling of the players on the field. Downstairs I smell the footballer and his suffering, upstairs that is not noticeable and it is worse for me.

"I will scream a lot, I don't like it at all."

Michel also said: “For us it is a very important game because if we win, the team would be the leader, but we have to go game by game. Our dream is to reach Europe. Madrid is made to win the League, like Barça and Atlético. We do not. It is not our objective.

"Our idea is not to fight for the League but for Europe. But it is true that if we win we would be leaders and the stage is... it is the Bernabéu. It is not a normal game, it is special for everyone and the team arrives at a spectacular moment. We are second and it is the first time that we can go to the Bernabéu to be leaders."
