Former Liverpool defender John Scales is impressed by Jurgen Klopp's team this season.

Tipped in pre-season to push the champions all the way this time around, Jurgen Klopp's men have so far lived up to that billing with a 100 per cent start.

Scales told the Mirror: “When I played for the club, you were always aware of the history and the demands of the fans. It can bog you down. Everyone mentioned the glory days.

“Back then it wasn't that long ago that Liverpool were winning everything. It's so different now – there's a new generation of supporters.

“But for any player coming to play for Liverpool, especially for those with a big price tag, you need to have the personality and strength of character to cope.

“Klopp would have done his homework and it's already obvious they can handle the pressure and expectation. The problems that previously let Liverpool down are slowly eroding away."
