Everton to move for Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson

Everton are ready to move for Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Daily Star says Ross Barkley, 23, is unlikely to sign a new contract at Goodison, with Tottenham favourites to sign him in the summer for £35million.

So Everton are searching for his replacement and are ready to pay £25m for playmaker Sigurdsson, 27.

That is £5m below Swansea's valuation but there is scope for a compromise.

Everton have also been linked with Blues old boy Wayne Rooney, but he is more likely to leave Manchester United for China.
