England coach Roy Hodgson says he's decided on his next captain.
Hodgson says he has made a decision on who will replace Steven Gerrard following his retirement from international football.
Asked if he knew who the next captain will be and whether the player had been informed, Hodgson said today: "Yes to the first part and no to the second."
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is favourite to be given the role, with Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart and Chelsea defender Gary Cahill also among the frontrunners.
"There is no ideal position for a captain," Hodgson said. "The main quality you would like them to possess is leadership.
"The important thing is that [the new captain] is someone everyone respects, who has the leadership qualities to do the job and someone who is prepared to take it on."
