Former Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis set to join La Liga outfit Espanyol, according to reports from AS.

Following three successful seasons at City, Demichelis was released this summer and despite his advancing years, a number of clubs were interested in securing the services of the Argentinean defender.

Now reports emerging out of Spain claim that 35-year-old Demichelis is on the verge of sealing a move to Espanyol and that the defender will not take up a non-EU slot at the club as he possesses an Italian passport.
