Spain coach Vicente del Bosque says Chelsea striker Diego Costa was omitted from his squad in a pre-planned decision.
Del Bosque says the omission had nothing to do with his behaviour against Arsenal.
"He can't play the first game and we preferred not to bring him. He isn't playing badly, we'll count on him in the future if everything goes well.
"We had already talked about not bringing him before the sanction came up in the game against Macedonia. We've taken the decision independent of the ban with Chelsea. I didn't like what happened in the Premier League. There's nothing edifying to say about what he did to get this ban. I didn't like what he did, not at all."
