The father of Chelsea ace Frank Lampard says a move to LA Galaxy was put on the backburner over his England ambitions.
Lampard will earn his 100th cap against Ukraine on Tuesday.
"He knew that if he went to America, that would be the end of the England career. And my son is a fierce patriot," Dad and former West Ham United star Frank Snr told the Sunday Mirror.
"He loves playing for his country and rejected that because he wants to go to the next World Cup and get that 100th cap."
