Colback happy to play wide for Sunderland chance

Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback is happy to play in a wide role after his performance against Burnley.

Colback - who was delighted to be handed a full 90 minutes at Turf Moor - is more than ready to step into the breach.

"Playing the full 90 minutes is only going to benefit me in terms of being ready for the season," he told safc.com.

"There's been a lot of changes from game to game - for example I only played a small part at Kilmarnock but played the whole game this time.

"I'm more than happy to play anywhere. I prefer centre midfield but I played on the left a lot at Ipswich and the manager has given me a licence to come inside.

"I will give my best in any position. It's not like playing the left is a new role for me."
