Chelsea winger Joe Cole admits he was delighted with this second-half showing for England in their friendly win over Japan.

Cole won praise from England coach Fabio Capello at the final whistle.

"I enjoyed it because it's been such a long time," said Cole.

"Croatia was my last game and I ended that with 10 stitches in my head. It feels great to be back around the lads. I've missed everyone. A few people have come and gone since I was last here.

"We wanted to win so I enjoyed it, coming on and playing in my favourite position, central.

"I feel fresh. That's the main thing. I feel fit and strong but the main thing is to feel fresh at this time in the season."
