Iker Casillas has been assured he will keep the Real Madrid captaincy.
There had been rumours that the former Chelsea boss may look to promote Ricardo Carvalho, a colleague since their days at Stamford Bridge.
But Spain international Casillas has held talks with coach Jose Mourinho and at a press conference in Beijing, where Real are on tour in pre-season, announced he would keep the armband.
"I had talks with the boss on this question and we discussed if I need to give out the captain position to someone else," said the goalkeeper. "But our boss said this is totally unnecessary."
He added: "There are chances that in the future if something bad happens or due to other reasons, I might leave the captain position.
"But so far I would say there is no sign or chance of that situation."
