Campbell desperate to keep Blackpool in top-flight for whole city

DJ Campbell is desperate to keep Blackpool in the Premier League for everyone connected to the club.

The striker will be thinking of those who will really suffer if the Tangerine dream dies at the hands of the champions.

"It goes without saying that from a financial point of view it is vital that we stay in the Premier League," said Campbell. "Some players are out of contract, while others will have to take a big drop in wages if we go back into the Championship.

"But for me there's a bigger picture to look at. Perhaps because I've lived two kinds of life I can't help but think of the people outside of the football club who have really benefited from Blackpool being in the Premier League.

"The whole town has really lit up since we got promoted last year. I'm talking about Blackpool being a much better place to live in terms of jobs and stuff like that. People's everyday lives. I know from my own experience how hard it can be to struggle by. I know what it's like to be on the dole. I've been there, done that, and got the T-shirt.

"It doesn't matter that I am now a Premier League footballer. I still think about these things and that's why it would be a travesty if we went down. I'd hate to see life made difficult again for the people of Blackpool."
